Columnists and commentators are reacting to our announcement yesterday that no candidate has amassed the required level of support to qualify for the ballot for our national online presidential primary. The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank writes:

“Continued displeasure with how the two major parties ignore what the American people want them to be doing has led to even more losses for them in registrations,” writes Solomon Kleinsmith. He explains:

“What would happen if third party candidates won all of their elections [in Nevada]?” Tom Jones asks in his column.

The answer: “it may just save our state and our country.”

Einstein said that the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Isn’t it time to do something different? The Republicans and Democrats have had control of our legislature for over 100 years. How is that working out for you?

“In numerous surveys over the past several decades, large majorities of Americans declared themselves in favor of political compromise in general,” report Amy Gutmann and Dennis Thompson in their book, The Spirit of Compromise.

On most issues, “openness to compromise is inversely linked to the importance people place on the issue.” Most Americans like compromise the most on the issues they care about the least.
