Proposed AE Rules Amendments Give Candidates More Time to Qualify for Ballot

The Americans Elect board this week approved the posting of proposed rules amendments for our process, which you can read in full on the Official Documents page. The major proposed changes are as follows:
  • The Primary Ballots would take place on May 8, 15, and 22, instead of April 17, 24, and May 8.

  • The Nominating Ballots would take place on June 12, 19, and 26, instead of June 5, 12 and 26.

  • Candidates would have until one week before the final Primary Ballot to gather enough support clicks to compete for the AE nomination, instead of two weeks before the first Primary Ballot.
These proposed changes are designed to make the AE process more accessible, by giving candidates more time to qualify for the ballot. These changes are now open for delegate review. Please share your feedback by emailing rules [at] americans elect [dot] org.

Thank you again for your participation, together we are making history!
